A short and weighty rope paddle made from African wenge timber and dyed tossa jute rope.

The wood face of the paddle feels nice and thuddy, like a traditional heavy wooden paddle. The rope face reduces the slap of the impact to give a slightly duller/thuddier and quieter impact. 

Each coloured line of rope is a separate piece and all are easily removable by loosening the colour matched metal screws on either side of the blade with the supplied allen key. All eight lengths of rope are the same length and can be readily interchanged.

You can personalise the paddle by fitting your own rope if you wish. Most types of natural and synthetic rope will work, so long as you can comfortably fit the rope into a 6mm hole. The rope fitted to this paddle is nominally 6mm in diameter and has heatshrink tubing fitted to the ends of each length to stop it fraying. Spare heatshrink tubing will be supplied with the paddle.

The paddle has two brass handle holes. All 16 rope holes and 16 screw holes are also lined with brass. The wenge body is finished with Danish oil.

The yellowish streaks visible on the wood face of the blade are a naturally occurring phenomenon in wenge. They are likely to fade over time. Without a finish applied this can occur within a couple of months. I have no experience to predict how long it will take on this paddle with its Danish oil finish.
