An elegant knife style paddle which is light as a feather. Made from sugi (also known as Japanese cedar), a timber often used in Japanese joinery, panelling and ornamental work.

Sugi has a typical density range of 300-420 kg/m3 making it one of the lightest commerically used timbers. It is quite soft and can be dented easily but has more than sufficient strength for use as a paddle. 

The open knot hole in the handle was carefully positioned to create an apostrophe with the brass handle hole. What some may see as an imperfection best hidden or removed can instead be a highlight that draws your eye towards it. 

In additon to the brass handle hole there are two small brass dot details on the bottom pf the handle end. The paddle has a subtle hand rubbed Danish oil finish.
