This very long pane has a wide but thin and flexible blade which creates a very bouncy impact toy. The thinness of the blade tends to result in it lightly bouncing/recoiling off the target rather than staying hit like a heavier less flexible implement. This makes it ideal for those who prefer a less intense impact experience. 

The tip of the handle is sharpish - it's not going to cut anything (or anyone) but makes for a great poking device :)

The shaft is made from rattan and the handle has been handcrafted from Pacific maple with a brass handle hole and details. The pane is finished in gloss polyurethane varnish for an attractive and smooth surface and ease of cleaning.

Panes are made from a single large piece of rattan which is then shaved down to create a flat blade surface. The impact sensation they produce is somewhere between a paddle and a cane, hence the name. They don't have quite the intensity of a traditional cane, nor the thud of a wooden paddle. Panes have some flex in the blade shaft which varies with blade thickness. This flex helps convey the feeling of a cane to both the caner and canee.

Miss Emm came up with the flat cane concept way back in 2011 after being asked whether it was possible to create a cane that didn't feel as intense as a cane!

This handcrafted pane was created by Miss Emm in her workshop in Sydney's inner west, where the finest wooden kink toys come to life.
